In my mom's tongue : Kansha Kangeki Ame Arashi

If this fandom had affected me in a good way, it would've been the way I view my own native tongue, Malay language. I used it for communicating purposes most of my life, to the point that i took it for granted. Knowing the language didn't make me feel special. But it all changed when I got into this fandom, I love Malay as much as I love English and 'my-non-existent' Japanese XD. Most of the time when I go to fanpal meetings here, we'll speak in Malay to each other. Though it's kinda funny that we often correspond to each other in English online.

This little project I had started early 2006, when dunadan, arwenna and I wondered how it might turn out to be if any of Arashi's songs can be translated and resung using its original melody in Malay. Dunadan often throws in random Malay translations of Arashi's songs in irc, and I was thinking the idea might be interesting, so I asked them to pick songs so I can try to do just that. I was only able to come up with the Malay version of "Blue" and "Days" at that time, and it was kinda *muffled laughter*. I dunno, gave em to wenna, while dunadan never asked for it (LOL).

But last year Arashi sung in Korean and Chinese. I find that gesture very touching, and they chose one of the best songs ever. So I translated that same song into Malay, making sure it can be sung in its original melody. i'm well aware that it might still sound awkward, somehow...
